Real gospel community is the necessary result of real gospel faith working through love. It’s a community that loves one another in a way that points to Christ's love for His church, and that demonstrates to the world the reality of their faith (Jn. 13:34-35; I Jn. 3:10-23). This love is marked by forbearance of each other’s quirks as well as forgiveness of one another’s offenses (I Cor. 13:1-13).
At Christ Memorial, we seek to be an authentic, Christ-centered community committed to laying down our lives for one another (Matt. 25:31-46, I Jn. 3:16). What does that look like? Twenty-five people showing up to unload a moving van, and not leaving until the beds are made up and the kitchen unpacked. A small group gathered in a living room, eating and talking and digging into God’s word. Meals for new moms. A Saturday roofing party, or a house-painting marathon. Cleaning, raking, or fixing a faucet for an aging widow or a single mom.
And when this real gospel community gathers, it is a glorious time of real gospel worship.
